With an average depth of 50 ft, this lake is situated 35 km from Gangtok at an altitude of 12,000 ft on the Gangtok - Nathu-la highway. Recently this lake has been opened for tourists. Its cool, placid water is in the perfect harmony with the scenic beauty around.

I was so much confused for picking the image this month since I have a nice tour to north east India in the 1st week of this month. Actually I was unable to choose some my favorite in that tour since they were taken on the end of Feb.

Nice view. Can't help but wonder what's up with the colored flags across the lower front. ??? Could be a little over-sharpened on this. Just some observations. Good luck.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: I really like the way you haven't taken a conventional landscape route here - the line of colour is (of course) fantastic and (of course) makes the image. The brilliance is how the image plays with a sense of scale, compressing and expanding our horizons at the same time. I think your colour levels and luminosity is bang on too.

Critical stuff: Nothing at all. I really like it.

Overall: I'm surprised at how much the introduction of a little bit of the unexpected can enhance an otherwise fairly dull image. With it, it has become something else entirely. Excellent.
