Thanks for all the comments. I certainly get the point about the fringes in front of the eyes, although I like them so I wouldn't change that if I could.

I got a little annoyed by the comments about yellow eyes. This is a fairly accurate representation of the reality of me and I don't like the idea of having to change myself to suit the whims of others. A sentiment I'm aiming at the message, not at the messengers.

Would like this better if the strings around the eyes were removed. 8

For advanced editing you could have whitened the eyes for more impact.

This looks red to me, and the tiny strings that go over the right eye kind of bug me.
However, I like that you can see the contours of the face through the fabric, and composition wise this image is interesting.
I am going to give this a 5 for now, but possibly re-calibrate my monitor in case it is off, and then come back and see if this looks any more orange to me.

Within this challenge this is certainly an original photograph.
Just 2 small details I would like to mention:
when looking at it, I feel the urge to move up the veil a bit so that both eyes are a bit more uncovered. At the same time I would fold the stitched border so that it's not visible.
I know: I'm nitpicking on some really small details.
Well done.

i think i'd have taken care not to show the frayed edge of the scarf, and maybe clone out the stray threads across the eyes, 6

You could have shown some more skin and also could have included the eyebrows. But with your title, the way it looks now is good.

The cloth looks more reddish on my monitor, than orange.

The bits of thread hanging in front of the eyes are a bit distracting. They eyes look too dark, the whites of the eyes too yellow. Just my opinions of course, these types of photos usually score well.
