A stabbur is an old Norwegian construction that was built for the purpose of food storage. The unique design that goes bigger as you go higher was made like this for keeping moisture from the ground to a minimum and to prevent rodents from climbing up and entering.

Darn, I was hoping to read a story about this building. :-( This was one of my top picks for the challenge. I'm starting to bump into more and more of your photos at the top of my personal rankings. :-)

I guess there's not been much for ground movement in 250 years at this location, eh? That building looks precariously balanced!

Absolutely stunning image. Just perfect. Beautiful composition, striking colors, some lovely textures and incredibly fine detail combine to make this really stand out. I daresay that this will finish in the top 3 and I even suspect it might take the coveted blue ribbon. 10
