This is my submission for the "Technology Challenged Technology Challenge" discussed in the forums with Gordon and Magnetic9999. I have to tell you, after making my own obsidian tipped arrow I have a whole new respect for "primitive" technology.

OK, just for the record, I don't own all this stuff. Well, I do own a couple. Let's see, found the rock and club, made the spear and the arrow. The sword is a display type from my days in Okinawa. The knife and modern pistol are mine while the old pistol and AK-47 are borrowed. The grenade is one of two dummys I bought to turn into gag gifts. I learned a lot in this challenge and the most important one was not to oversharpen a 1.3 megapixel image.
Thanks for all the comments. The only other shot I've gotten this many comments on was my Lady in Red shot.

I think you sharpened the image a bit too much.

Quite the collection. Maybe needs a big red button in the upper right to complete the continuum...

I wished it stopped there, but today's weapons are so much more complicated. Great contrast, good color. Idea meets challenge and executed fine. Grayce

Simple and to the point

I'm a little worried about you here!:) Great idea. I'm just wondering if a different background color would have made this better. Seems a bit bright as well.

interesting idea, maybe work on how the objects are lighted. Also the bottom right corner could use something to preak the edge.

Are these all yours? If so 10 to you.

Interesting choice of background color. I'm not sure it adds anything for me. Personally, I would like to see this as a Black&White. Your message is well presented and that says a lot. Though I may not agree with your message 100%, I certainly admire your ability to express it... +points :)

makes me squint, I think it's over sharpened and overexposed.
like the progression setup.

Unfortunately it does!!Great idea, nice shot. You own all theese weapons!!:):):)

This picture is not in focus and needs to be so. I don't really like the arrangement of the items either. The lighting is pretty good and the background is nice also. Good luck, Inspzil

I don't really think the background colour goes with what you're trying to portray here. But I do like the idea.
11/20/2002 05:07:00 PM
I do not want to know where you got the machine gun.
11/20/2002 02:07:00 AM
Image seems over exposed a bit. I didn't like the placement of the pistols and small knife. Idea was ok though.

Very interesting collection you have there. Needs a little more light without the brightness. I use the gamma adjustment for that. It really helps. I like the shot though and it sure meets the challenge. It also fits world news today, too well. Good shot and good graduation of technology. Great composition. PTL

The lighting on this shot is just a bit harsh maybe... The shadows are very strong and the hightlights are blown out in certain areas of the image... - setzler

thats some collection!
11/18/2002 06:01:00 PM
Man, that's grainy.
11/18/2002 05:26:00 PM
u didnt set that up now did you??? hehe great concept
11/18/2002 03:59:00 PM
I like the idea. The overall picture looks a bit too grainy/ out of focus. Jacko.
11/18/2002 01:22:00 PM
Pretty cool.
11/18/2002 10:35:00 AM
nice layout, but the background really detracts for me.
11/18/2002 06:36:00 AM
whoa - great arsenal. Unfortuneately bad picture. I don't like the background color - is it supposed to be blood red? It is salmon pink on my monitor. The diagonal arrangement is nice but why do they have to go off the page? Theycould have been crammed together more to make it interesting visually. The flash shadows are distracting and the lighting is harsh. Is it in focus? 5
11/18/2002 05:27:00 AM
Uhm, hopefully you have them on loan...

I would argue that technology only makes "it" easier when the opposing forces don't possess equal technology. In other words, it's a disparity in technology that makes "it" easier for one side.

Anyway, I like your photo idea and layout. The picture looks slightly overexposed and just a hair out of focus. The layout and colors are great though. :) (7)

I guess we shouldn't make any harsh comments to YOU, right?
11/18/2002 02:46:00 AM
Not sure i agree with the red background. Too distracting!!!!
11/18/2002 02:21:00 AM
Wow!!!!! good point
11/17/2002 07:45:00 PM
a pink background? Image quality could have been a little higher to make it a little sharper, and the focus seems off a bit.
11/17/2002 07:23:00 PM
love the composition and idea, it just needs better focus.. and maybe a different light angle
