 I loved this challenge! It was a challenge for sure to find the just right subject. Had a few candidates but decided to go with my latest blooming orchid at home.

Pretty flower photo, but it doesn't really bring anything new to the table. The point of this challenge (at least as I understood it) was to push some boundaries and to aim for a more cutting edge, contemporary feel -- and to reward something other than the usual ribbon-winning landscapes and calendar images.

6 - I like the choice of subject, but find the OOF flower, but in the composition as is, a little distracting. I also wonder about some diffusing of the light to minimize/eliminate the hotspots, all be them subtle. Compositionally, I think the lower part of the image is the strongest.

Interesting, and nicely composed, but the strength of the lighting on the background compared to the subject keeps dragging my eye away. The jagged shadow below the flower is also distracting - more light here would really make the 'promise' pop.

Beautiful light behind the orchid. Personally I would have liked the top papheo in that same light as well, but this is only I minor point imho. *8*
