I really enjoyed this, and looking through your portfolio I hope to see more from you.

I'm assuming the jurors will rank this well. I'm surprised it didn't place higher. I'd love to hear the inspiration for this.

I picture the picnic's participants as having been taken away against their will, most probably by spaceship.

Now this is what I was looking for! I could see a series of photos like this telling the story of a family that isn't there. Contemporary work needs intrigue and this certainly has it. My top pick so far. 9

So much to ponder here. Nice set up.

Excellent work, at least a 9 from me. Some aspect (color treatment?) reminds me of the photography of Gregory Crewdson.

Nice. but a little to hazy on the right, maybe intentional but I would've liked to have seen more of the bushes.

Not at all to be insulting, but the first thought was, did the people spontaneously explode? +2 for the fun..

7 - I like the feel, the mist, the colors, the perspective, the focal points - for me the elements of the picnic are 'off'. But that is just a personal perception thing, i.e.: apple and beer.. Up to 7 from 6.

Not fine art for me, but does have me wondering what's so perfect about this day, and what all that smoke is, and where all the people have gone. I see Stella beer, and a bite out of an apple, and some bread or something, and a shoe. No people. I think you want me to think they are making love somewhere. Okay, I will. Technically a tad dark, the elements we are meant to concentrate on are a little obscured, the existence of the smoke is probably unnecessary (you just wanted to use that smoke machine). A higher vantage point, looking down at the residue of the couple, may have really helped this. The mystery of b/w would have added to it, for me. I don't connect.

the misty picnic
the magical day
one bite of apple
he and she rode away

the sweet grayed mare
walked slow
through the wood
they soaked up each moment
as only lovers could

each moment
each blink
they treasured them, oh
for never again
would this place be so

she withered away
from a broken heart
he wanders aimlessly
no ending no start

but smiles pour down
on their faces each time
they reminisce
of this picnic sublime

WOW - what an inspiration. I saw this and the verse just poured out of me. Stunning. 8

This shot has grown on me since my initial reaction. I love the fog and the brightness on the one side followed by the darker feel of the other. It really gives my eyes places to explore.

really nice shot, though I really this that this should be one shot in a series telling a longer story. I would try to darken the sky a tad more add some more mystery.

It seems the picnickers have been abducted by aliens. ;=9

what really makes this picture is the lack of people. almost as if we are seeing the aftremath of something terrible. Nice work

Hmmmm...a mystery. Where are the happy picnicking couple? Abducted by aliens? Did a murder most foul take place here? Or are they perhaps being passionate in the undergrowth? Whatever...it's a beautifully executed image with wonderful lighting.

Has the fog swallowed up the picnickers after someone took just one bite of the apple? The image suggests lots of possible stories. Very Good!

As the stereotypical nerd, Frank's friends didn't believe him when he said he had a picnic date with a "smokin' hot babe". When the fire department arrived, all they found left of him was his pocket protector.

I had initially scored this an 8 but I have returned - it is better than that; such a story to be told here and the compositional elements are matched so well by your lighting and processing. Bumped to a 10. Special.

This is eerie. Half eaten apple, knocked over bottles makes me wonder what happened to the picnickers (is that a word?) Seems like they left in a hurry!
