Told ya you'd do well ;o) And you only got one comment asking to explain the title! For those that are curious, a 'radome' is a common term (in military and aviation circles anyway) for what you see in this great photo, and is derived from the abbreviation of 'radar dome'. |

Thanks for all the great comments...and scores :P. I have to admit this was a really poor shot prior to edits. I'm shocked that it did so well relative to the competition. Anyway, for those of you who wondered how this was done, here's my little how-to. Take an outdoor shot with your wb set for incandescent lighting and your exposure compensation down a few stops from where it should be....should yield a totally unappealing, off-colored, underexposed picture. Then hit auto levels in photoshop and mess with the curves enough to bring out a ton of grain and deepen the blues. Most importantly, run it through neat image using the default settings to eliminate the grain and produce that extra-surreal look. Finally, sharpen the image 'gently' (as a little elf would advise me) in photoshop and save for web. Maybe someday I'll possess enough skill and presence of mind to take a photo that doesn't need that much work...lol. Thanks again all! |

This is beautiful! The blue tones and the black silhouettes topped by the magnificent ball. What is it? A water tower??? I never heard of Radome. Anyway I like it very much. Grayce |

wonderful sky. i wish that the foreground was'nt so dark. I like how the orb is shadowed on the underside though. Maybe a different crop? Get rid of some of the brush that way? |

Very well done! I love the moodiness of the lighting and sky in this piece. Looking forward to seeing how it was done. |

Beautiful scenery. 1/3s works well here. I like the color, including the foreground. Focus is good. Good composition. Lacks something but I'm not sure exactly what. If I figure it out, I'll come back a let you know. Otherwise good shot. PTL Got back to tell you what it lacks and decided it was me not the photo, so I'm adding 2 points to give you an 8. Sorry about my mistake. |

One heck of a nice photo! The clouds are great!!! And the deep blue sky, perfect! The only reason I'm not going for a 10 here is the bottom, I feel it could have used more cropping. Oh yes, the trees, very cool, I would have liked to have seen more of them. 9 Swash (perhaps a landscape view instead of portrait?) |

Nice image. Nice colours. Looks like it has been a bit overdone in neatimage though, the clouds look artificially soft. Apologies if that was the intention. |

Love it. I think you may have oversharpened it or something. There's just something that's not right about the horizon or the fine detail around the tower. |
