 It's an egg :-)

Spent an age painting up the egg with my wife's craft pens, then went and laid in a very wet and muddy field.

I was inspired by jimmythefish picture with a different sport.

great idea and well executed. scored very low against the potential of this image. i believe many of the voters imagined this to be a real rugby ball and penalized you for doing it with such originality.

However a big congrats from me.

The phrase is usually 'Rugby, a game played by gentlemen with odd shaped balls' - my boss has it on his mug at work. Very topical, well conceived, and well executed.
