 Who would have thought that my first entry to dpc would be so morbid!
I read about this challenge, and shortly thereafter went for a walk when I discovered this bird, that had evidently strangled itself to death in a bush. I immediately had the idea of "Circle of Life" for the Egg challenge.
I felt sad and guilty the entire time I was taking this picture. What one all does for the sake of art!

I only edited Levels on this image, that's it.

Wow! You'll get a share of negative comments on thsi one I suspect. But idea is good and certainly innovative.

looks like a well taken picture, personally i'm not a fan of the subject material, but it still appears to be a well taken shot.

oh my - well I don't see anything wrong with the photo as far as lighting, comp and dof go....your set up might have been thought through a bit more, cause I think that's a chicken egg - you should have used a chicken instead of a whatever that bird is; it's kind of a disturbing image though - but still a good shot

The Humane Society start nailing you with calls yet?
I'm guessing it's a stuffed Norwegian Blue?

Post vote: I doubt many "got" this, the bird laying an egg just before it's demise.
