"Air balloons"
Inspired by the German song "99 Luftballons"from the 1980's.
Obviously dual perspective: Geometric Conversion & Color Inversion
I realize I'm taking a risk here, as these images tend not to do very well outside of a negative-specific challenge, and probably appear too "Cartoon-like" for most people's tastes. Admittedly, it does look more art than photo. Prediction: 5.2
I did not set out to enter a photo with the colors inverted in post-processing, but it began when I had to overexpose the entire image to get decent exposure on the bottoms of these balloons, which blew out the back lit ceiling big time. Thinking that a black ceiling would look better than overblown white, it occurred to me to try inverting. Actually, I kind of like the color effect I got, particularly in the blue columns and the underside balcony gradients.
I also suspect that some will cry DQ, thinking I used an illegal effect in basic editing, but I fee quite certain the INVERT command is permitted. It is amazing how much that changes a colorful photo!
Credit to EricV and all others who have successfully inverted the colors of their images previously on this site. Hopefully I have created something that a few of you will find interesting as well.
PP: Convert from Raw (recovering some highlights and boosting clarity, vibrance & saturation), Shadow/highlight, Hue, Noise reduction, Invert, Curves, Crop, Rotate, Re-size, USM. |

Well, it's not an illegal effect... but I don't think it improves your image much. I know this place from an image in a photo club, really cool place! |

interesting, would be nice as a poster, the border is a bit heavy handed for me and the processing leaves it looking more like digital art than a photograph |

Excelent from below perspective is enhanced with the inverted color scheme. Typically this type of PP would be too much for DPC challenge material, but here with the pastel colors, it works great and only enhances the photo! |

This kind of pp you like or dislike. You've done an amazing work on a great picture, but unfortunately the pp is not really my cup of tea. 9 for the photograph, 3 for the pp. Final vote *6* - Sorry. |

This is very unique image. The lighting must have been a big challenge. Lighting I can't control always seems like a crap shoot, even though I try to edit it or work with what I get, I always seem to find it's never what I expected when I shot the photo. I especially like the perspective and dimension of the balloons in relationship to the balconies. It not only meets your challenge but is pleasing to the artistic eye. Please accept my Bravo! Well thought out and great capture! |

This is not 100% symetrical...and i like it that way! great border to contain all of the great shapes and colors. Very nicely done. |
