Opened in CS3 - smart sharpened 80% and 1.5 radius.

Cropped and resized.

Converted to BW with Silver Efex. Emphasized the red channel to make the skin paler and the hair darker. Beefed up contrast and a bit of structure.

Lightened eyes and surrounding area with Viveza - selective editing tool.

Added catch lights in the left (on the photo) eye. Emphasized the pupils with fuzzy black paint brush.

Dodged the irises in the mid section to give more depth to the eyes.

Used levels to add a little more contrast, make the grays less dull.

Saved.

Fabulous! ...and great editing steps as well.

I tried the trial version of Silver Efex and was hooked.
