Nice colour and composition... I find the red background a bit overpowering though.

Now... please bear with me... I'm revisiting a little comment experiment I conducted in the 2009-03 Free Study... something like K10DGuy's comments, but with a twist... the twist being, the story will move from one photo to another within the challenge... also, I don't select just a few photos I start at the first and end on the last as determined by DPC random order assigned to me, with a single sentence for each photo... should be interesting... and you're photo is #7 in the series

----------
The plants and flowers were the first things to return to the area after the devistation... they're always first.

I like the softness of this and those deep jewel tones.

Background red makes this even more vivid. Pretty yellow. I do wish we could of seen the inside of the flower.

when I am looking at this I am wanting to see more of the flower to the front right in super focus...all of it...not just the little lip that is pointed towards us. your picture is nice has vibrant bright colors but I would like to see more of it in stronger, sharper, crisp focus...

Due to the composition, my eye is drawn to where there is no focus. The colors are great, but overall this is not very interesting.

This is lovely. The flowers on the right are so interesting, that I would have liked this better with just those; they're more ethereal and just plain beautiful! Nicely done.

Lovely colours. nice flowers but maybe needs little more depth as well as a focal point. Currently my eye follows the stem to the yellow flower and all Im met with is a yellow pettal/s...

The colors are what instantly attracts the eye towards the composition. The red and yellow hues are vibrant. A slightly above average shot in which the visual appeal could be stronger. The DOF (Depth of Field) so that not only does the flower in the foreground remain in sharp focus but those in the backdrop do too. Going with a higher aperature (8 or higher) and slower shutter speed to let enough light will accomplish that. Your lighting is fine with the flowers nicely illuminated to show varience in the shades of yellow. Lastly, I think the visual appeal would be stronger if the flower in the forefront exactly matched the diagonal lines of the horizontal composition. The stem is right about in the center of the bottom left corner it would be nice if the open face of the flower exactly faced the center top right corner to match; then there would be alignment on the 'unseen' diagonal line.

I find myself wishing for a bit more depth of field here. Nice red background.

Nice colours here, I like the yellow against the red. I think you've chosen the right focus and perspective here, it makes it that much more interesting than all the front on flower shots you usually see.

You have however been let down by the condition of the flowers themselves, they look as if they are starting to wilt and die with the edges of the petals starting to curl. I'll bet they were brighter and more vibrant originally.
