GREETINGS FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB
How lucky can a girl get! I very well remember this spectacular image from the "Best of..." Challenge and didn't know I'd get to see it again from the angle of the Critique Club. You finished well into the top 20 in a very demanding Challenge.
You know your subject very well, and you are a master of your camera and processing techniques. Your average and your many ribbons tell me this.
So with thanks for the opportunity to really look at this fine work again, I'll move on to the next image in the queue.
"There is nothing to critique here."
:-))

I'm so surprised this isn't in the top few. It takes my breath away! Some day before I die, I hope I get to see something like this with my own eyes.

Virkilega vel útfærð norðurljósamynd. Skýin yfir vitanum finnst mér gera heilmikið fyrir myndina, þvà vitinn sker sig betur úr ljósunum með þennan dökka grunn á bakvið. |

It's not fair from the Icelandic photographers to always come up with these cool Aurora pictures:). It is stunning (especially for people who have never seen it in real life yet). |

One of my top picks of the challenge. A stunning scene, obviously, but also very well executed, and processed very nicely on the whole. My only slight niggle is the stars, which seem oversharpened. I find that this happens on downsizing with bicubic sharper when the larger image is already quite sharp. I sometimes find that this type of image needs a little different treatment when resizing for web.
You chose well on exposure, capturing detail in the auroras, as well as getting nice exposure on the foreground. It so easy to over-do these shots in post-processing, and you have avoided that; you've showed how it *should* be done.
Normally clouds detract from a scene like this, but in this case they are just a beautiful addition! |

Wow, that is a pretty dense aurora borealis. Ironically it seems to be mimicking the ocean below breaking like waves accross the starry sky. Ocasionaly there is a break in the waves to show the 'sandy' starry night sky. Love the addition of the lighthouse to the composition for it adds visual interest and acts as a dividing line separating sky and sea. Very well captured and composed. |

Very nice, great colours all over. I like the little strips of red against all the overwhelming green! It's good that you can also see the starts in the background as well, nice touch. |
