Challenge: Best of 2009 (Advanced Editing VII*)
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Lens: Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
Location: Bruges, Belgium
Date: Aug 20, 2009
Aperture: 3.5

I edited out a couple of people--the most distracting two--but didn't want to push the boundaries of Advanced Editing too far.

I'd have liked to get a shot without the people--and also a couple of bracketing shots--but circumstances did not permit.

This will probably be a high-scoring challenge with a lot of great entries. I hope I don't get knocked down too much for the blown windows, but that was unavoidable if I wanted to get the ceiling. And I do love that ceiling.

This didn't perform as well as I'd hoped, but the comments made it clear why. Thank you all for taking the time to give me some good critical feedback!

Nice picture of an old building. lighting hot at places but then its really difficult to expose a scene like this. Only big thing bothering me here is the people. All sitting seemingly aimless...no purpose?

reasonably good edit , warm with nice details. The randomness of the people in the shot gives this a snashot like feel. Don't get me wrong , this is definitely better than a snapshot. As an example , I wish the rest of the visitors were not there with the exception of the couple sitting down. , 6

not many churches in this challenge...yours is a touch dark but not so much so that the details are lost in the ceiling...very nice

You title says it! Beautiful church. You did a good job putting the viewer in the image.

Very nice architecture, nice colours. Photo looks tilted to the left though and I would have liked to see it centered.

The composition feels hurried -- off center, slightly crooked, and the people looking and moving about are just distracting. It's a beautiful setting, however.

Reminds me of a church in Toronto. I've always loved old architecture.

The image is centred, but not quite. By this I mean you have taken from the middle of the room, and the end of the room is almost in the middle of the image, as are the middle of the roof elements, but it isn't quite, which makes the image look tilted slightly. A more dramatic angle and using the brialliant elements of the room to lead the eyes through the image would have worked better.

This is a nice, much more "homely" shot of a church then you usually see in these grand cathedral shots around here, for that reason I like it.

I would have liked it better if you had waited for the walking girl to leave the scehe, that way you would just have had the zig zag of people all the way down the isle in their various different poses.
