I know I'm going to get points chopped off for the lens flare on this, but I thought it was a really nice part of the photo so I left it!

I really like the shiny B&W and I love the fact that there's lots to see and do here. (no problem with the lens flare, in fact it works to accentuate the wet).

Greetings from the Critique Club

Sorry this did not score a bit higher for you, although I think a 6 is pretty OK in a Best of challenge.

I like this image very much indeed. There are lot of things to look at but it doesn't feel busy. The rain adds to the mood very well.

I personally have no problem whatsoever with the lens flare, it adds to the charm of this image. The one thing that bothers me and it is really a minor issue and one I should be able to overcome, is the fact the monument is not square to the edge of the frame. Also, the fact you have cut off the very corner edge of the monument base. I know, I know. I hate that things like that bother me (same with my own pics). It's such a nit picky thing, but I feel sure I am not the only anal retentive DPC voter.

Sorry about that, I typically try to get beyond these silly minor things, but for some reason with this image it keeps coming back to me. So silly.

The B&W conversion is wonderful. I do really like the image, so sorry for the nit picky stuff.

Sarah

What really does it for me with this shot is the really high contrast B&W conversion. Great shot.

Great presentation...I really love the tonal range of this. The most interesting thing to me is the person with the umbrella so I wished the story were more focused on him rather than the statue.

Hmm. The really cool thing about this photo for me is the umbrella like shape of the light over the right hand path... That and a general sense of wonder that you were out there taking a picture of such a constantly available landmark in such conditions...

Like the processing here and the grainy look to this. really ads nicely and the fact that its pouring (seems like it) really cool. essential for me is the man in umbrella. Very good take.

Great treatment here. I almost want to see more of the "life" here - rather than the static memorial. The umbrella / rain / shiny surfaces are great.

Eerie feel to see this standing alone, in the rain with a sole person, walking past it. Lovely!

Very compelling image - edgy and good. Love how you captured the rain in such detail and the guy with the umbrella is excellent.

Interesting with the umbrella. I like the textures. This could almost be two separate images with the tombstone in one and the guy with the umbrella in the other. Would make a cool diptych. :)
