This old Studebaker pickup has been in my sights for some time, for just the right challenge. Shot head on with my 80-400mm on a cloud covered morning with decent light, coming from over my shoulder.
I debated whether to go color or b/w, but after reviewing it with Carol, she recommended that the color was a better match, with the textures added by the rust colors. I think she is right...again!
Processing:
Levels, curves for contrast, hue/saturation , USM at large radius for local contrast (2-3 times), minor dodge and burn on "Studebaker" and on eyes, minor clone to remove a few grass blades at bottom of image, resize, Adamus Sharpening, resize for web, USM at large radius, USM sharpening, added border.
POST CHALLENGE: A reminder to self....never process your image on your work laptop. The monitor on that thing is horrible. On inspection of the image on my home computer (with calibrated monitor) I ended up with an excessively processed mess. |

I prefer this over the sepia version. I gave it a 7. |

This looks like one ol' grouchy car. Processing really helps bring out the rust patterns as well as give a nice boost of color on the green peeling paint. The white grill looks like a big bushy mustache. Composition, lighting, and color tones are wonderful. Nice find! |

The processing seems a little heavy handed. I like the subject and the composition though. |
