Challenge: Signature Style (Advanced Editing VII*)
Camera: Nikon D90

Aperture: f4.5

Subject is the same as in two previous challenge entries of mine. It's the dome in Lübeck. Since both of those entries ended up in the top ten, I do have a slight hope that someone will recognize my entry.

Post processing:

Raw conversion in Capture NX2;
some adjustments using control points;
selectively converted to b/w to get rid of some annoying lights;
sharpening;
save as .tiff;
added border in Gimp;
save as .tiff;
save as .jpeg in CNX2.

Two things that were mentioned in the comments:
1.) The selective desaturation: It's actually much less selectively desaturated than one would think. Here is the original (only editing done is white balance, default raw conversion in CNX2, and resize):
.
My main reason for using selective desaturation was to get rid of the lights on the left.

2.) The border: I can understand that some might consider the border distracting. I still believe that it serves well the purpose of adding some depth. And many on DPC seem to like this style of border (see e.g. the top three entries in the foliage challenge).

Nice shot Ronald, congrats on another top ten with this subject! :) Loved the "natural" selective desaturation in your original (you may want to fix the link in your comments)

Amazing shot! Love the seletive de-saturation and the vibrant colours, that's also captured in the reflection. Outstanding!
PS: and I guess I found you: ronaldfw?

Beautiful PP. Excelent contrast. Akward framing (even though it might just work).

I'm guessing this is ronaldfw's shot. Another beautiful shot of this church. (I am presuming it is a church)

Really pretty. Jury's out on the selective desaturation.

Oh how PRETTY! I'm not typically a huge fan of selective desaturation, but here -- since winter scenes are so often black and white looking even when taken in color -- it works so well. It really enhances that church and gives it extra beauty and richness.
