I like this not for itself but because it is so thoroughly something else, something one might find in an abandoned photo album, and you wonder why they kept this picture... you figure it's because it captured some quality of the shore they wanted to remember, even if it was a bit sinister and desperate. Posthumous Red Ribbon.

I think the original image wasn't really worthy of the effort put in to make it special. The vignetting effect (why is the top not included in the effect?) feels unnatural, and the focus is lacking. The framing would be better if the pier remains started in the lower left, then tailed off diagonally toward the upper right. |
