Greetings from the Critique Club!

One of the first things you learn about DPC is, this site is loaded with literalists. They want to see something that very obviously fits the challenge. Here the broken leg needs to be looked for, and that sadly is too much work for some.

Some commenters feel the model detracts...I wouldn't say she necessarily detracts from the shot. However, does she add to it either? In my opinion, no. The look on her face is not one of alarm, just slightly mild concern.

Technically, the WB does look to be a bit off, can be tough to get esp if you are taking a reading off the wall behind her. My house is also painted in some unusual colours, so I've learned to compensate accordingly. Composition is OK, I might have cropped the top a bit. FWIW I'd have gone for more dof, less ISO, faster shutter.

Overall it isn't a bad shot, you just need to make things a little more obvious, especially in challenges like this. I also got a thorough spanking from the voters for my entry in this challenge, thinking that they would 'get it.' Well, they didn't!

Meanwhile, keep shooting and entering challenges, that's the best way to learn. Remember, Charles Edison finally succeeded in inventing the incandescent light bulb...after failing 2000 times previous.

Feel free to PM me with any questions,

Susan

Good luck!

Breaking chair is a good concept. Having a non-wood floor might allow the chair more visibility. Adjusting white balance to reduce the yellow color cast and faster shutter/sharper focus would be good, as would a different choice of clothes for the model (the narrow boot fur and the band of skirt color first made me wonder if the model might be tied to the chair).

sorry but this is just a little boring to me....

Its a bit OOF, and im not a big fan of the color. Perhaps B&W with more contrast? Good idea for the challenge.

WB is off.

The subject is a little out of focus, and the white balance could use a tweaking.
Other than that, it looks a bit of a snapshot. It would be cool though if shot from below, and with higher shutter speed (increasing the ISO perhaps).
