I like the photo but how could you capture it with a 2 second shutter speed? Please advise.
04/25/2002 05:29:00 PM
Ok, Ok. For all of those that have asked.....I was lucky......I had only 4 bulbs and this was my forth shot.
04/22/2002 06:29:00 AM
Come on, please tell us how many bulbs it took!

How many light bulbs did you break trying to get this cool shot?
04/21/2002 07:17:00 PM
Just to be nitpicky, I'd have framed this a bit higher, and the surface the bulb is smashing on looks tilted. How many lightbulbs did you smash? :)

The best "posed" yet.
04/21/2002 01:35:00 PM
i might straighten and crop some of the dark bottom off, but great shot.

Very well done. Perfect timing, perfect framing, and a perfect black background.

Great Timing!!
04/20/2002 03:17:00 PM
Very artistic. Love the contrast. Your timing is incredible.

How many light bulbs did you smash to get this shot? Its a shame about the white speckles.
04/20/2002 10:04:00 AM
Very interesting picture, and wonderful example of stop action! I'm not partial to "posed" shots, but this piques my curiousity!
04/20/2002 07:33:00 AM
Snapped at the right moment
04/20/2002 06:42:00 AM
This is a superb shot. No background distractions, excellent focus, and excellent stop action. Has qualities of a professional at work.

Pretty neat concept. Crop the bottom to take out some of the lint..

How on earth did you know when to trip the shutter??
04/19/2002 06:17:00 AM
Wow, great timing.

This is awesome. Great idea, great photo.
04/18/2002 11:00:00 PM
i hope that was an old bulb. nicely timed. great shot.
04/18/2002 07:22:00 AM
Appears to be drastically oversharpened judging from the noise. A good idea, and well captured (cropping could improve the composition - too much room at the bottom), but something happened on the way to the web.

Now that is cool. Great idea.
04/17/2002 07:29:00 PM
you did this, correct?
04/17/2002 07:16:00 PM
This must have cost a fortune to shoot. How'd you drop the lightbulb hard enough to break it and still catch the timing? And where'd all the pink dots come from ... is this scanned?
04/17/2002 05:54:00 PM
Nicely captured. I wish the lightbulb would fill more of the frame or at least be placed lower within the frame. Perhaps shooting it in landscape would have been better. Still a well captured and sharp photo.
04/17/2002 04:56:00 PM
Excellent subject choice. Reminiscent of the Harold Edgerton work. No visible blur.

Nice timing on this shot.

this is a really cool shot.

Very pretty, good idea! I love the glimmering effect on the black.
04/17/2002 12:36:00 PM
Wow, great timing! The light is perfectly angled to pick up all the fragments too. Its a shame about all the artifacts though.

Incredible idea and execution.
04/17/2002 10:42:00 AM
Too cool. I like the contrast of the white on black, and the sharpness of the glass shards. There is some fuzz in the black part. How many did you have to break? 10

great subject material!
04/17/2002 06:58:00 AM
After breaking my dad's entire supply I changed my vote on this from 6 to 8. Good job! How'd u do that?!
04/17/2002 06:45:00 AM
how many light bulbs did you need to break before you got the good shot? ; ) nice image, although the tilt of the surface above is a little odd.

04/16/2002 04:26:00 PM
cool! how many did you have to break to get that shot?
04/16/2002 04:12:00 PM
Super stop!
04/16/2002 03:59:00 PM
Like the idea. But it's kinda rough. High ISO speed?

I always wanted to try this but with a glass bottle of some kind, I don't know why but I'm seeing pink and green dots, are these like digital dust spots?
04/16/2002 01:01:00 PM
Wow! Only suggestion is to maybe have the extra "blank space" above the bulb and not below.

04/16/2002 11:57:00 AM
I love this one. Too bad about the digital hot spots, but you can't do much about that without post-processing. I wish the surface it was shattering on was either closer to or further away from level.

04/16/2002 09:22:00 AM
must have been a heck of a job getting the timing anywhere near - unless you used electronic firing gear?
04/16/2002 08:30:00 AM
Very good shot! I would have liked it even more if the impact was shown at the bottom half of the picture.

This is shocking... How did you manage to take the photo? Or shoud I be asking how many light bulbs did you have to break before you got a shot you were happy with? Hehe...
04/16/2002 05:19:00 AM
Really nice idea and shot, there a bit too many hot pixels though. I dont know if Blank and White would "clear" them up a bit.
04/15/2002 08:37:00 PM
Wow, nice! Are the colored dots noise?
04/15/2002 07:04:00 PM
Hope you had a stash of burned-out bulbs available!
04/15/2002 05:56:00 PM
Great shot! How many lightbulbs did you go through?
04/15/2002 03:15:00 PM
Very creative idea....
04/15/2002 02:19:00 PM
Very Creative. Extremely sharp. The blown pixels (or noise?) is somewhat distracting to me. Would have liked to see it cropped even tighter. Keep up the good work.

I like this a lot. It is original and interesting. I'm ignoring the noise because of the difficulty of your photo. Great job on meeting the challenge.
04/15/2002 02:13:00 PM
By far the best demonstration of stopped motion so far

Very Well Done ! In the top three. I did it with an egg but the results were not apparant without an explination. I would have prefered some backlighting. 10

04/15/2002 12:57:00 PM
damn good job
04/15/2002 12:03:00 PM
Really cool. Other have to be wondering if this is scanned because of the colored specks. I'm giving you the benifit of the doubt and assumming they are just 'hot' pixels or something else.
04/15/2002 10:57:00 AM
Excellent shot - you fired this off right at an incredible moment and got a great stopped/frozen picture.
04/15/2002 10:28:00 AM
This is cool! Maybe I should have bought stock in GE before you started this project. Please message me and tell me how many light bulbs it took to get this shot! Excellent shot! My only complaing is that I think a more interesting crop could have been applied. There's a lot of emptiness in the lower half of this photo. The void in the bottom of this shot is the ONLY thing that is holding me back from a perfect 10.

great photo. maybe a little less black at the bottom?

Excellent timing, excellent picture.
04/15/2002 08:15:00 AM
Someone built themselves a flash trigger. Awesome shot! Could've used a horizontal surface for the bulb tho.

04/15/2002 07:44:00 AM
whew..that had to be a mess to clean up. Good shot, but the speckles distract.
04/15/2002 07:42:00 AM
that must have been one heck of a shutter speed
04/15/2002 07:42:00 AM
wow ... being picky - the camera is tilted, and I think a more even lighting may have helped (ie on the left hand side)... otherwise, I hope u didn't have too many bulbs to clean up :)
04/15/2002 07:33:00 AM

04/15/2002 07:32:00 AM
Excellent! I tried this shot, and could not get it. Great job, I love it.
04/15/2002 07:24:00 AM
This is a beautifully done photo. It is creative, shows good technique, and is definately stop action.

This is wonderful. Care to share how you did it ?
04/15/2002 06:05:00 AM
I am wondering how many lightbulbs it took to get this photo. Great!
04/15/2002 06:03:00 AM
Wow. Great idea. That thought never crossed my mind.
I really like it. Not fun to clean up though
04/15/2002 05:39:00 AM
Great timing! How many bulbs did you have to smash to get this?
04/15/2002 05:39:00 AM
Excellent! Mind 'shattering' that you were able to capture that shot.
04/15/2002 04:56:00 AM
this is terrific. there is almost a feeling of drama to this picture. i wonder, how many lightbulbs did you go through before you got this result?

I love this capture ! Great job ! The only thing I would have done differently is crop the bottom out more, making it appear a bit more of a close up.

COOL! great capture
04/14/2002 08:10:00 PM
Your timing was FANTASTIC ... just off of that, you get my high score ... unless your family owns a light bulb factory.
