i meant nail polish remover. i had just woken up when i typed that

the reason the focus is off on the outside of the flame is because this is from the top. the center was about 2 feet away, and the outside, which is the top of the flame, was about 2 inches away. i accidentally left some shoe polish on my hand and it flashed up at me

bye bye ink spots, hello fire pictures... "i think i see....."
:-)
04/21/2002 12:29:00 PM
all that light, where is it going?
04/20/2002 11:21:00 AM
I like this one alot, the fire looks to have a life of it's own
04/20/2002 04:28:00 AM
Difficult subject with good exposure, but not stopped action.
04/20/2002 12:26:00 AM
Very pretty. Fire is so hard to capture. Center of flame is clear but the outer is blurred.
04/19/2002 04:19:00 PM
I tried this, but my parents always said I shouldnt play with fire, so I stopped, but still you did well with this one.
04/19/2002 06:08:00 AM
Wow. Anit-cliche (fire instead of water)
04/19/2002 04:21:00 AM
An extremely difficult subject to stop. Nice contrast with the colors.
04/19/2002 03:34:00 AM
incendiary! how did you get this flame to dance like that? very creative and well timed indeed.
04/18/2002 08:31:00 PM
Very violent, but yet very elegant, like a dance. Excellent shot!! I love it.
04/18/2002 06:59:00 AM
That's a beaut.
04/17/2002 09:33:00 PM
Better watch it, all these water shots might put out your fire.
04/17/2002 01:01:00 PM
the motion is not really stopped - probably because you couldnt really light this with a flash and your shutter speed was too low to prevent blurring. however it is still an interesting photo !
04/17/2002 11:22:00 AM
Neat concept that's well executed.
04/17/2002 11:22:00 AM
Very impressive! How did you make the flame gutter like that?
04/17/2002 06:02:00 AM
cool ... or is that hot?
04/16/2002 12:38:00 PM
Your subject is a little out-of-focus. ;-)
04/16/2002 12:29:00 PM
I will be interested to hear what "rvo" stand for. The flames (i think) really look like they are really moving around. The photo probably would have benefited from a little more depth of field. Keep up the good work.
04/16/2002 12:13:00 PM
Hard to focus on a gas but extrodinary!
04/16/2002 10:53:00 AM
cool contrast! I like this picture.
04/16/2002 09:43:00 AM
Flamin' heck! - good shot well caught
04/16/2002 05:24:00 AM
Best use of the flame idea. I am actually saving this image.
04/16/2002 02:52:00 AM
Nice shot, the background is perfect, nothing distracts you from the flame.
04/15/2002 11:41:00 PM
Beautiful, so clean... the color is great... you should explain how you did this to everyone.
04/15/2002 08:24:00 PM
Very interesting. Good colors
04/15/2002 02:30:00 PM
Very lovely. Subtle and ethereal. I like it. The fact that the upper part of the flame resembles a face make it extra intriguing.
04/15/2002 02:03:00 PM
This is a very nice photo... It does show good stopped flames. This isn't easy to do... I'm impressed...
04/15/2002 01:55:00 PM
Fire, fire! Hey this is a great photo. The darkness really adds to the picture.
04/15/2002 12:57:00 PM
tight
04/15/2002 10:41:00 AM
No doubt about it. The best of the bunch. Very Nice!
04/15/2002 09:51:00 AM
Nice idea! Would like a bit more focus personally.
04/15/2002 07:45:00 AM
Ooh i like.
04/15/2002 07:36:00 AM
I see a face.
04/15/2002 05:33:00 AM
Good composition and color. A little blurred on the top, but still a great shot
04/15/2002 05:07:00 AM
This is an excellent picture!

Additional note to my earlier comment : I actually dreamed about this picture last night. That is a pretty big impact for one picture to have. I am hoping you win this contest. If we were allowed to buy prints of each others pictures, this is the first one I would purchase.
04/15/2002 04:39:00 AM
wowser. it looks almost magical like this!
04/15/2002 03:02:00 AM
Cool! well hot! Focus is a bit out - maybe you could have used a target at an equal distance to lock the focus then aim at the flames ?
04/14/2002 11:22:00 PM
high impact.
