Hah! I didn't recognize you at all! This is bloody good, though that cig in your mouth is making me horribly envious.... I walk around behind smokers now just to get the second hand smoke. Quitting is no fun at all and some days I cannot remember why I did! Congrats on the new studio! |

Funny thing is that I did not even notice the cigarette when voting. I gave this an 8 and I'm really surprised about the final score. The lighting looks great and the detail you captured on your face is awesome. Excellent shot. |

Had I known this was you, I would have been also been considered an anti-smoker....
As it was, you got an 8 for a great and quirky portrait.... |

OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for the Mu (most underrated) award:
Positives: Very unconventional portrait and so very, very well executed - well lit, well shot, well processed.
Critical stuff: I hate looking at the image; I'm the most anti-smoking person I know and I've seriously struggled to look at the image for as long it has taken to write the comment (I know that must seem strange to a smoker).
Overall: Very good work albeit one I really, really don't enjoy. |

I like the smug expression. Great light that softly wraps around, too. |

Really cool, shame you can't really see the ciggie smoke against the white background. |

I scored this higher then some of the other straight portraits. I feel there is something extra with this image the others didn't have. Sure it has fantastic clarity and lighting. The muted colours work well here. But perhaps the models personification of character through the lens makes this piece stand apart from the others. |
