 Finally I had some vacation and some free time to go out to shoot. This time I had enough time to go out of the 1 hour radius from my home.

This image is taken in Vík at the southern most tip of Iceland. I have always wanted to have a shooting session here but never quite had luck with conditions. The whole southern coast is covered in black lava sand. The sand around Vík is especially black and fine grained. That combined with alot of interesting rock formations in the ocean makes this place very interesting and offers alot of good shooting opportunities.

This time I drove into gray overcast weather just before Vík. I decided to hand around and see if the conditions would change. And as often before, patience paid off and the sun managed to light up a thin strip of light behind the pinnacles. Not the most dramatic sunset I have seen but surely one of the most interesting.

I don't know why, but this combination of light and subject had a kind of dark and devilish atmosphere over it. The word Diablo just popped in mind when I first saw it. It is also one shot from being the 666th shot I shoot with my new 5D MKII.

The shot was taken between 3-4 in the afternoon. This is the time of year to shoot sunrises/sunrises around Vík as the sun rises/sets in SSE/SSW direction in Dec/Jan.

I really did believe this would get a ribbon...you just missed out on that but that takes nothing away from a shot that had me stumped and believing it would def trump all others. Beautifull!!

This is a gorgeously minimalistic shot that captures and captivates our eyes. Congrats on the high placement. I absolutely love the silhouettes of those rocky mountains seen off in the distance where the sunset colors linger. The brooding sky and the ghostly bluish-white hues of the ocean just really makes the image pop. One of my two tens that I passed out during the challenge. The title made me think that this was Diablo beach in Uruguay - but it is far from it as you can get:-)

Interesting image. It is nice to a point. The personality in the water due to your longer exposure is nice. it is not great in my opinion but it is nice. Yet I would have liked more orange or something more to give personality to the image whole. There is a glimpse with the structures in the background but they are so small they appear more of a distraction then an intended element.

This is a stunning picture If I was one of three voters...I could say 100% Ribbon. It really is a special shot with powerfull mood with both beauty and hope on the right and dark and gloom on the left. Eish...I love this. 9
