So I went up into the high mountains where I captured this eagle and then gave him a bit of a treatment. Right..
This is milk spilled all over a table, after a few standard adjustment layers in PSCS4. I also smart sharpened/ blurred, dodged/burned edges a bit and took away the tiny spills. I didn't want the spillage to give it away.
It might look like it's over processed, but it's really not. The original looked dark and funky to start with and as soon as I used levels it immediately started to get even more like it was painted and the milk look went away right then, so I went with this one instead of the other subjects I captured.

Looks like a monster. :) I have no idea what else it might be unless it is part of a crest like you may have referenced to in your title.

Very cool, I can see some scary creatures in the pattern. Probably some (metal) liquid place against another metallic surface =P

It's the boogie man! He's been hiding under my bed all these years and he finally came out!

Serious guess: The crack pattern of a microwaved CD.

Some sort of liquid you poured then manipulated with something like a pencil to create the points.
