Love me some South Haven! Great shot. I've only been there in the summer. I can only imagine how cold it was! |

You'd really be upset if I slammed this pic with a 1 or a 2, wouldn't you? Nah, I won't do that. I've seen this lighthouse in many challenges and this is one of the better shots out of a lot of really good ones.
Added: I've seen a really bad one too. They gave us a calendar at work last year and it had a shot of this lighthouse that reinvents the term "oversharpened". Hope they didn't pay much for that shot. |

Nice freeze action. Certainly conveys the sense of a deep chill. |

What really catches me here is nearly everything. The colour of the churning water to the clarity of ice on the tower. Though for me personally I would liked to have seen the frame move to the viewer left a bit. The drop of interest on the catwalk distracts my eye. If the frame was moved it would add more interest with the rolling water also it would allow the tower to be moved into the 1/3 position. |

Man how cold is this. Being in SA never seen anything like this and whish sometimes to see this in life. Could not have been comfy conditions in which this was taken. Only thing I would have changed is to crop a bit off at the bottom (and maybe top...playe around with this) and played a little with ss. Bottom detracts a bit from the main scene 8 |

I love images that illustrate the power of the sea and man's struggle to defend against it. This is a great example, well imagined and well made. Among best in show. |

Brrrrr! Great capture! Love the muted tones - they fit well with the environment. A lot of people would have "overdone" the colors and HDR, but you used subtlety to your advantage. |
