 I experienced a moment that I will never forget. After some extensive power shopping with my lovely wife I decided to get a last minute entry. While packing the camera, I told my oldest daughter where I’m going and what I was going to do. I barely managed to finish saying “I’m going to take pictures” before Olivia chimed in that she was ready to come with me. I told her, “grab your camera and let’s go!”. She ran over to the toy bin, grabbed her green toy camera and we were off to downtown London on a rainy Sunday afternoon. While driving down I described to Olivia what type of pictures I’m going to be taking. She listened, smiled and responded that she will be doing the same with me. So here were are, downtown London, back alley, on a cold rainy Sunday afternoon, only days away from Christmas. I took her out of the car, grabbed one of my cameras and got ready to snap a few. I kneeled down, focused the camera and out of the corner of my eye I saw Olivia kneeling down beside me, just like me. She is pretending to adjust the focus on her little green camera, clicking the trigger button while the camera is says: ‘Ready? Smile! Click!’. My little photographer in training! She then asks me “Did yours turn out?”. What a happy moment for me! To be able to share my hobby with my oldest daughter and for her to be out there enjoying it with me! Awesome! As we got closer to the decayed building I let Olivia get a couple of steps ahead of me. When we got close enough I said “Sweetie get a couple more!”. Here is a picture of her focused to get the best angle of the decaying building.

Drat, drat, drat! I thought I stood a chance of overtaking you for the DPC top 10, 2009. But not now that you've added this to your recent blue. ah well, maybe next year.

As to the picture -- spectacular! wonderful! and so much better with the child!

To be honest, I see more vines that decay. But I'm weird like that because I think vines on buildings look cool. Couldn't you have broken a few windows to bump your score up a few tenths of a point? lol No vote, I'm in this one.

to have included the human presence, especially a child, it really is the gem of this beautiful shot...
