 This was taking mid morning in open daylight. I struggled with deciding if I should have the flag in the background or just focusing on the knot. When I decided to have the flag in the background I took a series of shots both tall and wide. This is the one I decided on as it kept the feeling of a tall flag pole but kept the knot as the focal point.

This isn't so much macro as depth of field. Great shot for the latter. Better lighting would have improved the detail on the ropes, and added impact to the shot. Not voting.
