Too cool - the kid's body language is outstanding. Sweet BW tones. |

Wonderful flow to this - not just the motion, but the way the light hits the scene and the ease of the boarder as he goes by. |

Is it Nixter, or an imitator? ;-)
Great b&w treatment. I love the movement in this, I wonder if some will find fault because the skateboarder is not sharp? |

I think that either more dead or active space could have helped create an even more impressive sense of motion but then pan motion is still quite effective. |

I love motion panning shots. Nice job with the B&W. |

I like the energy you've captured here. B&W was a good choice. But your border unsells the motion. If you must use the letter box ... a wider aspect ratio would sell the motion better. I'm not a letterbox fan ... so ignore my ramblings on framing as the ravings of an ignorant. |

OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for the Mu (most underrated) award:
Positives: Great use of motion blur here and the monochrome treatment is an excellent choice. I even like the bold border. It would be tempting to reject this image due to the primary subject being this unsharp but I'm glad you've had the confidence to ignore such restrictive conventions.
Critical stuff: Nothing at all.
Overall: Great stuff. |

in an odd way this appeals to me...can't really put it into words but I really like the "feel" of the picture |
