So far, I've accomplished what I set out to do with this shot - get viewers to wonder what it is. It looks a lot more exotic than it is: a specialty bulb covered with silicone protrusions.

Oh, and I know that the droplets wreck the illusion by adding size context, but I thought they also improved the interest of the shot.

Huh? That's one ginormously sized cell :P

Beautiful composition and colors. I assume this is one of those decorative balls with little spikes coming off of it (I see them used for ear rings all the time).

fantastic colors, love the lighting and extensions of the "cell", good composition. only distraction is the closest "hair" as it distracts from the main focused hair. more science fiction than science though, still 9
