Although I didn't mark it down for the motion blur, I feel as though you should have tried to conform to the challenge wording a little better. Good photo. |

The blurring of the fan gives the impression of motion, but the challenged is "stopped motion." |

Loved the shot. Great angle. but, the purpose was to stop action and have no blurs. |

too dark to appreciate... too many trails |

Motion is still not stopped. Trails in blades. |

I'd say that this motion isn't stopped at all. Try a faster shutter speed. |

Unfortunately, this shot doesn't really stop the motion. Difficult to do in a low-light situation. |

So cliché. Action not stopped. Bare bulb. Still, somehow compelling. |

Kind of a cool picture, however, the motion is not stopped. |
04/18/2002 03:31:00 AM |
You need a faster shutter speed to really stop the action. |

wish the lighing was lighter, good job though. You really get the feeling of the fan being on, I know I can't stare at the center - which is where your eye is drawn - I feel motion sick! |

I see motion trails yet this is more favorable than the other fan shot |

Excessive blur in image. Doesn't meet challenge requirements. |

Ahhh, at least, I see. It's a fan. It is indeeed an interesting shot, but unfotunately it is not a very well defined stop motion shot. Had to grade it down for that - sorry. |

Interesting angle, but too much motion blur. |

Good use of shadows, but a little too blurry. |

this is one of the pretties pics in the challenge. the blur adds to the impression of motion. nice. |

I still see a little motion blur. ;-) |

My eyes couldn't decide whether to focus on the cieling or the blades.. I can tell that these blades were in motion, which doesn't really meet the challenge. Tough subject for "Stop the motion". |

great use of lighting! really creative angle |
04/16/2002 06:20:00 AM |
I'd redo the crop here to get the centering right. Cool lighting, though. |
04/16/2002 04:38:00 AM |
I like the feel of the shot however, its a blurred stop motion shot. |
04/16/2002 01:56:00 AM |
Nice image, but blades shouldn't be so fuzzy in this challenge. |
04/15/2002 11:17:00 PM |
This would be a lot more interesting to me if it weren't slightly off center... it either needs to be precisely in the middle or offset some more. It's a nice abstract shot, though! |

A bit too much motion blur for "stopped motion" |

Interesting how the action is more frozen near the hub of the fan and more blurred near the ends. Still it needs something more to be a compelling image. |
04/15/2002 12:18:00 PM |
sorry this image has not been stopped dead |
04/15/2002 12:17:00 PM |
You were obviously going for something abstract here but we were supposed to avoid motion blur. Perhaps a much faster shutter speed and tying something pretty to each blade to show the frozen motion. Hmmm, Frozen Motion, wish I would have thought of that name for my entry. |

This is going to be a challenging comment, so please bear with me. A vast majority of the motion in this photo is not "stopped". The only moving parts that appear to be remotely stationary are the metal arms that hold the blades to the fixture, and the fixture itself. The inner spikes just outside the light are stationary to begin with. I like the artistic qualities of this photo but I don't think it's a good representation of the challenge topic. |

04/15/2002 10:18:00 AM |
I still see motion on the blades. |
04/15/2002 09:26:00 AM |
I am sure it was hard trying to freeze the hub spokes while allowing the blades enough blurr to show motion. This shot does not deserve all the "ones" it will surely get because of that blurr. |
04/15/2002 09:24:00 AM |
Interesting look at a fan, the goal was no motion blurs though! = P |
04/15/2002 08:04:00 AM |
This could have been a very boring, simple shot. But the shutter speed you used, making it dark and only a little blurry, really makes it fascinating. More towards the center would've been better, that's my only nitpick. |
04/15/2002 07:33:00 AM |
Little bit of blur there. |
04/15/2002 06:59:00 AM |
Good artistic shot of a boring subject :) You did well, but it shows lots of motion blur... |

There's just too much blur:( Fans are hard to capture without motion. Just a bit too dark, also. |
