I've always liked the creative abilities of tilt/shift lenses. I've had mine for several years, but this is the first shot with it that really showcases its creative possibilites.
This shot was taken around 8 or 9 AM on a Saturday morning. As you can see from the soap bubbles in the gutters, the street cleaning crews had been through recently.
paulbtlw - As you see from my post processing you hit the nail on the head. You are absolutely right about rotating it. There is also a speck of sensor dust in the upper right. I became absolutely exhausted with photography and DPC shortly after I took this photo, and I refused to go back in edit anything or pickup my camera for almost a month. So that is that.
Everyone else - Thanks for the comments. The French Quarter is a great place to party, but you should be careful. |

I was once (almost) mugged on this street. How did you capture it mostly w/o people? The lens distortion adds a great element here ... a surreal quality I quite like. Good work! |

OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for the Mu (most underrated) award:
Positives: What an interesting scene - full of seedy goodness! It makes me wonder what time of day you shot this. I really like your colour treatment here (looks a little like the 'duplex' filter in Nik's Color Efex Pro.
Critical stuff: The whole image looks like it needs rotating a fraction of a degree clockwise.
Overall: An interesting scene, well captured. |

Sepia works well. As does the wide angle. And the wet street shines nicely. New Orleans is one of my favorite places. |

But where's the moon? Isnt that how the song goes? There's a moon over bourbon street? A fantastic image and you captured the dark mood. 10 |
