My lighting for this was a really simple set up. The ice/water mixture is in a clear baking dish. I supported the dish along the edges so that the bottom was exposed, then took a utility light and placed it underneath. I have a home-made diffuser (a boot box lid with the top cut out, with gift wrapping tissue paper taped over the opening) that I placed between the light and the baking dish. The utility light has a daylight balanced bulb for whiter light. I placed the bottle on top of the ice, using a large chunk of ice to support the bottle at an angle so the air bubbles floated out of the frame. I then set my camera on a tripod above the dish and took the shot. I shot this outside late in the afternoon to use natural light from the top.

One other thing I did was remove the back label from the bottle so it did not block the light from the back.

It is amazing that such a simple set-up produced these results. When you think of what goes into a major production food shoot... acrylic ice, hand set water droplets, and so on. Great job!

That was VERY helpful!!!

I love how you described all the solutions you came up with for every possible problem, (especially tilting the bottle for the bubbles and removing the back label! Awesome ideas!!!) , i'm going to try to re-do this shot for fun using your instructions, i think it will be really fun!
