Totally loved this one. The light is just gorgeous.

OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for my Mu (most underrated) award:

Positives: Great light - well captured; I particularly like the way the periphery of the image fades to darkness in such a subtle way. The image has a real stillness to it too - a strange think to say about a 'still image' but nonetheless that's what it communicates. For me, the highlight of the scene is the window and the height it offers your image.

Critical stuff: It is a very simple image - boldly so and this could be construed as it lacking a little bit of interest by some viewers.

Overall: I really found this image to be a grower, it really does get better the more you look at it - kind of like unwrapping something. Overall, I love the simplicity of the composition and I really love the light.

An interesting capture, but a word on the title: I often come across titles like this, and they are an anomaly. Waiting for what? If you are interested in appropriately titling your work, try comparing titles of successful pros. You'll come across titles like "Flowers", "June bugs", "Pretty dress", "On the porch", and so on. Very simple, straightforward monikers that let the photograph do the talking, not the title. A title like yours in my view tries to make the viewer think a certain way about a picture, and I'm not sure that's a primary goal for us. It might have been better titled something like "Church Pew", or "Afternoon Light". Allow your title to describe what your photo is, not what we should be thinking while viewing it. Just a thought, and I've used oblique titles myself very often, but the importance of the title has concerned me for a while now. 5

The lighting & the contrast is great and well executed here in this simplistic approach. 7
