Your Bokeh doesn't really add or take away from the photo. To me it's just Shallow DOF. YOur sun his too harsh on his face and his facial expression is not good. It looks as if he smells something foul. I thnk the crop is a bad crop. The soft light does try and help bring something to the photo. I like that part.

and soft focus...or was that done with gaussian blur? Nice portrait, really like the colors

His head looks a little chopped to get it into the ROT category. Personally, I would have replaced that with soft focus as it's stronger and more integral to the image.
