 The Mandrill (Mandrillus Sphinx) is the largest of the monkey species. Closely related to the baboon. Males average 55-60 lbs (25-30 kg), females about half as much (11.5-13.6 kg or 25-30 lbs). Unusually large males can weigh 110 lbs (50 kg)

The sole male at the Singapore Zoo, must have been my lucky day to have been able to capture this male with my 400mm. This image still went through a significant crop. Normally he is too far for even a 400 or 500mm. The lighting is also very low in his enclosure, making it an additional challenge.

Shot at ISO1600 , 400mm focal length , hand-held with VR on.

Clearly those colors are the result of an evolutionary process to compete with the peacocks, bird of preys, etc., in DPC challenges. :P

Dig those lips. This guy would make a great Halloween mask. I'm sure it is shallow DOF but its a little hard to tell without much of the bg showing.
