 The camera was set to -2.7 exposure, in order to achieve the effect. Wish it wasn't basic, would like to show more shadow detail. Oh well. Shot on last day of challenge. Processed through RAW with a little bit of fill and recovery, Dfine for noise, some cloning of sensor crap in 6 spots, contrast bumped, warmed a little, hue-sat adjustment layer in normal mode to bump sat +4, unsharp mask.

I hope this is properly interpreted as low key, as it was shot at -2.7 EV and the histogram's values are completely on the left of center.

I love the composition. Would like to have seen it shot in more subdued lighting -- dawn or dusk -- or even with a flash.

The deep blue sky normally is wonderful. But on this shot it is too distracting and takes away from the nice sunflowers.

You could try shooting this shot at sunset/sunrise with a smidge of up lighting on the faces of the flowers.
