What a beautiful image, and so well done at night! I love his expression and the position of his hands, very nicely done! |

Commenting as part of my Team Suck duties...
This was a bit hard done by in voting... without a doubt, deserved to be higher. Great contrast, and great capture... unconventional composition probably hurt it, and why did you crop the boys foot off? I like the unconventional composition, but the cropped foot disturbs me. Beautiful photo, who cares what the average DPC voter thinks. Well done. |

Nice job Michelle. I see the tractors from the tractor pull in the background. |

I like the wrist band. Implies there's a fair or something with rides, but he's almost had enough. I like the B&W and the long shadows from the lights, too. |

OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for my Mu (most underrated) award:
Positives: Wow - this looks very cinematic to me as if it is a frame from a David Lynch movie - I love it. The way you lead the eye with you use of light and shade is exceptional. Then there is the subject matter itself which carries a very high interest level.
Critical stuff: None really, all stylistic elements seem to be really well balanced.
Overall: A really interesting image that is very, very well executed. |

I like the tonal range. I wish it was panned back a bit, to include his feet. |

Mmmmm... the lighting and tonality are good, but I get a bit of an uncomfy feeling when I look at this pic. First there are the two subjects (tractors and the boy) which are not connected to each other. The tractors also don't add value to the pic i.m.o. Also the boy looks out of the frame, which makes me wonder where he is looking at (maybe some more tractors?). 6 |
