This was an experiment in tracking & panning.

The bird is a Gannet.

This photograph was taken just after midday hence the really low ISO value.

Post Challenge: Thank you everyone that voted and /or left comments. I really appreciate it.

Hopefully after this entry, there will be no more compression/artifacts problems. Shortly after recieving the comment from Yo_Spiff, I solved the mystery of how to fix this problem.

Here is the original photograph, resized only for dpc.

Oh, nicely done Alex, I gave it a 7. I figured there was a problem with compression, but I didn't feel it ruined it completely. Lovely shot regardless I think.

Read up on JPG optimization. The artifacts have ruined an otherwise good shot.

Knock, knock... JPEG police here. We have a warrant.

A great action shot but there is a lot of extra JPEG compression taking away some detail and creating visible artifacts. (It struck me first in the orange area on the head, but they are visible all over, outlining the bird's body) Your file size is only 47k and you could have used up to 200k for this challenge. Compression kills detail. Always use the least compression you can get away with and still come in under challenge limits.

I am often the only one anal enough about compression to notice such things, but it jumped right out at me.
