A very curious doe who apparently felt safe behind the fence, as she approached me and my 100-pound puppy repeatedly and made lots of eye contact. The light was dappled so the camera did hunt for focus some of the time, but I intentionally focussed on the fence here because it told a story of sorts. I rather like the way it came out.
PP - converted from RAW, rotated slightly (fence was nowhere near level so I went for an angle where the deer was relatively straight), cropped, white balance, levels, cloned/colored tree trunk which was right behind deer's head, colored deer browner, reduced noise, cloned/colored a few spots right around deer's head, increased contrast, resized, sharpened, hand-blurred background and deer some more to get rid of sharpening noise. |

This works extremely well. (And so much more delightful than most of my in focus deer shots!) |

I think this works for the challenge. I can't really say I'm really interested beyond that (not very compelling). I wish there had been a slight curves adjustment to balance the lights and darks a little better. 6 |

Gorgeous use of OOF - the fence creates the gridded overlay; the light is wonderful behind the creature, and you can still see the eyes. Very lovely! |

Beautiful greens. I had to look at it a minute to see the deer. GOOD GOING. |
