All the elements are just perfect in this. And in my opinion, so is the focus! (And to Steve - for all you know, the mantis WAS praying - perhaps not to be noticed or not to be eaten or for the photographer not to be Jason who would then stick the poor mantis in a refrigerator to chill it for easier posing....) |

This is cool and otherworldly looking. And it's obvious to me what the intended subject would have been. 8 |

kinda cool. I think the faded out part on the left is a little distracting but I'm guessing you couldn't control it. Works well enough for challenge. 6 |

Love the earth tones and "interestingness" of this shot. Very well done for such a strange challenge. |

Can I nitpick? The spelling of this meaning of the word is "preying". The praying mantis is preying on the spearmint. Sorry, I can get a little anal about these things. I hait it wen I mispel sumthing.
Oh, and a sevvun for this piktur. |

Interesting take on this very photogenic critter. And the color tone tastes spearmint. Very nicely done! |

Wonderful macro. I'd have cropped out the upper white element, which is distracting. |
