This is maybe the opposite of missed focus in retrospect. I took a handful of shots trying to get the DOF just right to blur the front grasshopper and show just the back one. Normally, I'd want both in focus and go a tad deeper in aperture selection for detail on both.

Considered another idea, but I spent too much time getting bitten by mosquitoes and one LARGE pesky horse fly to not use this now. :-)

the subject is mostly out of focus. but I don't see anything compelling about it - the missed focus does not enhance the image in any way. The subject itself is centered, drawing my attention (I give you credit for that) but it doesn't provide any interest or tension to keep me engaged. The spiderweb at the bottom is more interesting, and I wonder where the spider went. 5

This SO reminds me of a picture of skewsme from some time ago, but that's the tree part, not the extracurricular part.... And it's kinda cute... :-)
