I like how you figured out your way into manually creating this smoke-like feeling, the blur is a bit too much though in my opinion, and it's also almost impossible (at least to me) to create a 3D effect to it, real life smoke always contains some level of sharp details and it's also distributed in 3d space and not necessarily flat looking.
Also, I second that comment about the lamp. |

I think the mistake in this is that the everything is quite nice, but I dislike the lamp. I would re-do this but buy a cheap brass tone genie lamp off of ebay and photograph it and use that instead. It will add a greater semblance of reality. |
