Don't really expect this to do well!! Ran out of time so just a shot in the local park Sunday evening.

I used my p&s to create a single RAW then used photomatix to generate a pseudo hdri file then tone mapped that.

Saved as tiff and opened in cs4 raw, upping exposure, blacks, clarity, vibrancy and increasing saturation of greens and yellows.

In cs3 a little dodge and burn, shadow highlights on the top of the main tree mainly with graduated layer mask. Curves, levels, resize, noise ninja, border, save. Seems like a lot of work but took 5 mins.

Good demonstration of the capabilities of HDR to enhance details in the shadows. If this is a redwood, the pink/magenta tone is foreign to me in the foreground tree bark. The other trees have bark color spot on. Good sky. Unique perspective

Good, but not great. Maybe some bolder tones on the tree trunk would impact me more. Still worthy of a 6.

very interesting composition (in a good way), but it may be a little heavy on the right side. Colors and clarity are very good.

3 - HDR is way over-done, in my opinion

5 - A reasonable use of HDR, but not a very engaging photo, in my opinion

7 - A reasonable use of HDR, and an engaging photo, in my opinion

10 - A fantastic use of HDR, and an out of this world photo, in my opinion
