The five-storey pagoda at Nikko. The 1650 original was burnt down, but this is the 1818 version. I went up there after school. I would have liked have gone into the Toshugu Shrine compound, but ¥1300 is a bit expensive just for a short time to take photos.
Just a few minutes before i took this, a couple of class loads of primary school kids were sitting on the ground there. ;-Þ

Early voting suggests what I feel - I really don't have the hang of HDR processing. And certainly not compared what other people can achieve. (Well, that's a statement that could apply to most of my post-processing...)

Good photo.

I find it a tiny bit too dark. Very nice subject, though.

Your composition is strong ... and it is an interesting photo but I wonder if it could be improved if you boosted the colors - and did a bit more with the sky - I don't mean make it look fake ... just add a bit more drama via more vibrant colors.

Good composition. Great subject. I think you are half way there. The building and trees are somewhat underexposed. The sky and clouds are overexposed to the point of blown out highlights. Not sure you accomplished your goal of HDR improvement.

I like the sky, the colors and the details are nice too, but i wish the temple and the trees were more bright.

Overall a good shot, but some elements seem a little off to me. The lower tier of the pagoda seems very soft, while the tiers above it appear much sharper at about the same distance. A visual illusion, perhaps.

Looks amazing, wish i was there. i love how the tower just goes up off into the sky. Leads really well. this is done amazingly well. Only thing I would change is make the red on the Pagoda, true red and add some saturation selectively to the building. Otherwise, 6

Very impressive pagoda, light remains flat, but I really like the detail.

Doesn't look very HDR-ish to me, not enough detail or contrast imo.
Nice comp though.

I shall be rating this challenge by the following criteria:

1 - Not HDR in my opinion

3 - HDR is way over-done, in my opinion

5 - A reasonable use of HDR, but not a very engaging photo, in my opinion

7 - A reasonable use of HDR, and an engaging photo, in my opinion

10 - A fantastic use of HDR, and an out of this world photo, in my opinion
