Challenge: In The Style Of: Heida (Advanced Editing VII*)
Camera: Nikon D90
Lens: Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D
Location: Ultimo, Sydney Australia

Aperture: 1.8

Date Uploaded: Sep 7, 2009

Taken after a storm in Sydney at night. This was taken for the heida challenge. After looking at her work I wanted to try my hand at her street photography/ blurred shots. I was trying to get either as much movement or essence of movement as I could while keeping the persons face sharp and use the rule of thirds as she does in most shots.

It is not an exact copy of her style as she does not seam to take night shots so my pic ended up being darker then her work. Also she does not have any panning shots posted, she gets her movement from blurring the shot or having a slow shutter speed allowing the person to move during the capture.

The bw conversion was done in silver effects and then resized in photoshop.

This is very well done, love the detail you've managed to capture in the cyclist against all the blur of the background!

Wow. Awesome use of the blur effect. I can't tell if the rider is riding through water... but it looks like sparks!
