 I love taking pictures of tomatoes and basil.
I think tomatoes are so hard to make look real good and get the colors, hue and textures right.
There are a few things I'm not too happy about in this picture, such as the arrangement of the spaghetti on the right side and the drop of water on the pasta.
It took me quite a few trials to get the drop right on the tomato. I wanted it to appear as if the juice is running right out of the cut.
Here is an other idea I shot. Once I had both shots as I wanted them, I could no longer decide which one to pick :(
So I had some friends vote on both and they decided to go with the one I submitted.


Processing was not too complicated:
shot in a light tent, with 2 flashes
raw conversion
close out dust specks (I had to use my old 20D as the 50D was out for repair)
a little Lucis Wyeth (transparency set to about 35%)
high pass (20)
dodge/burn
hue/sat
brightness contrast
merged layers
USM (amount 25, radius around 200)
S/H
resize
USM (15,46,9)
add border
save for web

I hope your mouth waters just like mine did during procesing the pic :))))
