Very nice perspective on the challenge, although I am sure the big issue is there really isn't a very DEEP depth of field here.
I do understand your photo well and I think technically it is very good, just feel most of the voters couldn't think outside the little box as usual.

Your getting tricky here...nice lighting, texture...this photo is pretty straight forward, but there is a lot to look at at the same time. |

LOL, are you the person who was asking about removing the apprature blades from a lens in the forum last week?! Hahaha, you actually DID it! Very cool, I've always wondered how these things worked. But I warned you, the lens is ruined now. :) |

I guess this shot used deep DOF. It is hard to tell because there really isn't much in the way of background or foreground. The subject itself is not presented in a way I find compelling. It does demonstrate in a way how deep DOF is achieved so I'm not sure why you didn't just go out and take a shot of something using deep DOF to show off the advantages of the technique. |

Well executed image but I don't think it meets the challenge theme. Hence I am rating it lower than I would if it did. |

I hope that wasn't out of something expensive and broken :) |

Great photo of a stripped out shutter and iris, but does not illustrate any exceptional DOF. |
