Not a lot of interesting tunnels near me, and no caves to my knowledge. This one runs under Exchange Avenue in the Fort Worth Stockyards, along a short riverwalk. It's moderately hidden and if you don't explore away from the main drag, you'll overlook it. A lot of people that have lived here for years don't know this is here. I have tried to get a shot of this that I was happy with before and several prior efforts were not totally to my satisfaction.
Due to a drought (we seem to alternate between drought and flood summers in this area) the river that flows through this tunnel was very low, and I was able to walk over to the far side to get a nice perspective view of the painted tunnel wall and the park outside. (Made a mess of my work clothes, however!) There is an interesting circular stairway just outside, but due to location, I was not able to get it lined up to be visible in this shot.
This was tricky to shoot because of the dark tunnel and bright scene outside. I could not have done this one under basic editing rules. I tried a few things with this session. I brought along a remote triggered flash to illuminate the tunnel, and also tried some HDR. All those trick shots I have edited so far look like garbage to me. I'll continue to work on those techniques.
Pre-challenge notes:
Expecting a mid-packish placement for this. I'm sure some folks have totally awesome caverns that will be hard to compete with, and the folks in NYC certainly have their choice of interesting tunnels to pick from.
Anticipated critiques:
-Slightly blown highlights in the scene outside.
-Nice tunnel, but the outside scene is just "meh" material.
Post challenge notes:
A good one for me, and made exactly a 6.0. Lots of strong competition in this challenge. I'm pleased.

nice reflection, good capture of depth, it gives off a cool temperature/ vibe, somewhat too bright to capture the detail outside though. good |

I really love the colors on the outside, and on the right side of the picture. Good job bringing those colors out. |

I really like the water and reflection in this for another dimension to the image. |

Very nice, the reflection makes it work well. You must have been hanging on the edge unless there was a walkway that isn't obvious. |

The mouth of the dragon breathing fire to ward off all visitors who dare enter. |

I like the image composition a lot. It looks like a flag. My eye is drawn to the white sky. Maybe in black and white the other tones might be able to get some more attention. I like the light off the water reflecting on to the underside of the tunnel. |
