Just an incredible shot. I am curious as to how you got such "magnification" of the fly. It is so perfect. lhall |

I like many aspects of this shot: contrasting colours, transparency of wings, how the fly's colours match the background colours. Perfect. |

nice detail. thinking maybe a rotation and crop would help the composition. |

Good work. Only improvements mights be a flat green background (shapes and colours distract the eye), and remove the bud on the left. |

These are the most beautiful flys there are and you sid a superb job of capturing him. Great contrast of the flower and it's eyes. Would have cropped it a little more - I would have. Forget the third rules. This would have been a 10 with one flower and fly. But it is still an 8. PTL |

Now that's a close-up! Wish the flower wasn't so ratty (this time of the year unfortunately). Great focus on the eye. Love the shallow depth of field. Jacko. |

isn't the macro world great? i love those huge eyes on flies and their shimmering bodies :) challenge -- met technical -- pretty good. did you use the greatest DOF that your camera allows? if not, it would be nice to increase it to get the whole flower in focus, too. but i know that digital cameras have a very shallow DOF in macro mode ... composition -- did you consider rotating 90CCW? while your background is blurred nicely, it works even better w/out strong color changes. just moving around a little sometimes gives a better view. -- gr8photos |

Great shot lovely colours and just the right point of focus. I would have preferred it to be cropped in portrait and to concetrate on the central flower and the fly. It appears that 2/3rds of the frame are wasted:8 -lamedos- |
