i think it was a good subject, but the red color is dulled by the water color and the hazy sky. i like the lines casued by the masts but the only red thing in the picture is washed. i don't know how this could be made better, but it detracts for me |

Great colors on the boat. A different angle might have been more interesting asa photo, but, to get across the idea of a racing yacht, I think you needed a view similar to this. |

Instead of putting your subject in the dead centre, this one would have benefited from a few things - more negative space, a composition using the rule of thirds (doesn't always work, but would have in this case), and maybe somethin gin the forefront set with a narrow DOF (like even a ship's mast or something) to add drama. It's not bad, but it could use some more drama to make it compelling - to turn it from a snapshot into a photograph. |

A nice idea for this challenge. Perhaps a more limited depth of field would make the numerous masts recede and therefor enhance your subject. Still, a step above snapshot. |

I would have liked to have seen more of the tops of the masts. Otherwise very nice. I like the lighting. |

Hrm, not sure what to say about this. The light seems far too even as if it was harsh mid afternoon sun, which isnt always a bad thing but it makes the image feel a little flat. The amount of masts in the background give it a somewhat chaotic feeling, plus some of those masts, including the focus yacht have been cropped out of the image. Stepping back, if possible, and getting the boat in context and at a different time of day, or else getting closer and shooting an element of the boat may have been a slight improvement. |
